SANJAY is Additional Director General, National Accounts Division, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation and Secretary of IARNIW. He is an Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Officer of 1992 batch.
Sanjay has vast experience in the fields of official statistics, including Census, Education, Agriculture, Custom & Excise and Vital Statistics. He has earlier worked in Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India, Ministry of Home Affairs; Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education; Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare; Tax Research Unit, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance; Central Water Commission and Field Operations Division of National Sample Survey Organisation at Gangtok, Malda, Allahabad and Muzaffarpur.
He represented India in two out of seven task teams formed for Fourth revision of United Nation manual on Principles and Recommendations for Population and Housing Censuses for the 2030 round of Censuses. He played crucial role in conceptualising forthcoming Census of India and NPR updation exercises. Launching of First ever All India Survey on Higher Education using latest IT tools and developing First Indian National Standard Classification on Education are some of his accomplishment during his stint in Ministry of Education. He made substantive contribution in the preparation of the Report of the Expert Committee on Agricultural Statistics constituted under the Chairmanship of Prof A. Vaidyanathan for improving agricultural statistics and to examine use of remote sensing applications in agricultural statistics.
