Mr. S. V. Ramana Murthy is a Higher Administrative Grade Indian Statistical service (ISS) officer,who is currently working as the Additional Director General, Social Statistics Division, National Statistical Office,Ministry of Programme Implementation, Government of India.He has more than 35 years of experience in the Government of India holding various positions in the areas of official statistics. He has also worked in the National Commission for enterprises in the unorganized/informal sector (NCEUS) contributing to the definitional and statistical issues. During his career he has also worked in the field of labour statistics, Industrial worker’s consumer price index compilation.
His current position in the Social statistics division focuses on coordination of social, environment and multi-domain statistics including Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He spent considerable amount of time in National Accounts Division (NAD) of National Statistical Office, bringing out the Advance and Quarterly estimates of National Income, the service sector estimates and the unorganized sector macro estimates, Supply Use tables, Input Output tables.
Modeling and projecting investment requirements for five year plans in the erstwhile Planning Commission of India and the Twelfth Finance Commission were his other responsibilities. He is also one of the coauthors of India’s first Human Development Report brought out by the erstwhile Planning Commission of India.
He was also an Asian Productivity Organization (APO) consultant on a Research Project entitled‘Productivity Improvement on Informal sector’.
