Mr.Purnendu Kishore Banerjee is a Senior Administrative Grade officer of the Indian Statistical Service (ISS). He has more than 25 years of experience in the various fields of Official Statistics. Currently, he is Deputy Director General (Statistics) in the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education,Government of India.
During his tenure in the office of Registrar General of India, he received the Hon’ble President of India’s Silver Medal for his contribution in conducting the Population Census of India 2011.
During his tenure in the National Accounts Division of India, he has worked in the Financial sector, Non-Financial Public sector, Agriculture and allied sectors, Sequence of Accounts, State Domestic Products, etc.
His areas of specialization include large scale sample surveys, population census, national accounts, corporate sector, financial sector, informal sector, labour force, agriculture and education statistics.
He has also worked in short term international assignments of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in a few countries on labour force and child labour survey analysis.
He has numerous papers published in various national and International journals covering different areas of official statistics.
