Dr Amarjit Singh Sethi has been Professor-cum-Dean Faculty at the Punjab School of Economics, GND University, Amritsar. A former member of both Senate and Syndicate of GNDU, Prof. Sethi has to his credit, nearly 41 years’ Continuous/ Regular Teaching & Research Experience in Different Universities (viz., Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur, HP, India; Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, India and GND University, Amritsar, Punjab, India).
A Gold-Medalist, Prof Sethi has been bestowed with the Best Paper Prize Twice: By the Indian Society of Agricultural Statistics, New Delhi (1987-88); and in an International Conference on Shifting Paradigms in Applied Economics and Management: Course Correction (2014). During his academic career, he was awarded with numerous Scholarships and Fellowships (like Punjab State Government Merit Scholarship: ICAR Junior Fellowship; ICAR Senior Fellowship; CSIR Junior Research Fellowship; and NCERT Junior Research Fellowship).
As a keen researcher, Prof Sethi has completed certain research projects; has authored two books, and has published 108 research papers in journals of National & International repute. He also has presented 144 research articles in National/ International Conferences and Seminars; has acted as a Resource Person & has delivered 185 Invited Lectures in various institutions; and has chaired 32 Technical Sessions in various Conferences/ Seminars. During his career, he has produced 6 Ph.D. candidates; has extended Minor advisement to nearly 20 other Ph.D. candidates; and has imparted research guidance to about 50 M.Sc./M.Phil. Students.
Prof Sethi’s biographical data has been included in the Marquis Who’s who in the World, 21st Edition (2004), as also in the very First Edition of the Marquis Who’s who in Asia (2006). As an, Applied Econometrician Prof Sethi has a strong passion for getting solution to his complex problems through the development of a very strong battery of customized computer programmes in R-Language. He has been extending Statistical Consultancy/ Research Methodology advisement to the researchers from various streams.
