Kanchana V. Ghosh is a Senior Administrative Grade “Indian Statistical Service (ISS) officer of 1999 batch. Immediately after the completion of two years of mandatory Probationary training of ISS, She was posted in one of key units of Department of Revenue, namely the Tax Research Unit in the then Central Board of Excise and Customs. Her responsibilities primarily included: Formulation of Budget estimates for the customs and central excise revenue; Preparation of statistical material for various budget documents; creating a data base of Indirect taxes and monitoring of revenue collections of the Union Government at periodic intervals.
Her next tenure was in the Plan Coordination Division, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, in the then Ministry of Agriculture for five years.
She also had a one and half year termin the Field Operations Division of National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) at Pune in the State of Maharashtra, India].
Currently the officeris in the National Accounts Division of National Statistical Office, India; she is currently holding a crucial charge of Estimating Quarterly and Advance estimates of Gross Domestics Product (GDP) and other related macroeconomic aggregates. In addition, she is in charge the Public Sector accounts. She also had a fairly long experience of analyzing the budget documents of Union and State/UT governments for the estimation of Gross Value Addition from the Government Sector,
