Joined Indian Statistical Service (ISS) in 1968 in the 1st Batch. I was posted in the National Accounts Division (NAD) of Central Statistical Organisation (CSO) and served the NAD for 21 years in various capacities and superannuated as Head, NAD in 1991. During this period, I was member of the Governing Counsil of NSSO and Advisory Committee on National Accounts Statistics. I also actively participated in the Revision of the 1993 SNA.

I was senior Consultant with National Council of Applied Economic Research, Institute of Foreign Trade and Institute of Public Finance and Policy on National Accounts after superannuation.

I also was Consultant/ Advisor on National Accounts with IMF, World Bank, ADB, Common Wealth Fund for Technical Cooperation, FAO, UNDP, etc. and advised many countries, such as China, Mongolia, Tonga, Vanuatu, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Kirgizstan, Cambodia, Uzbekistan, etc. for improvements in their National Accounts and related Aggregates since 1991.

I served the Indian Association for Research in National Income and Wealth in various capacities as Secretary, Vice-President, Editor JIW and I am currently a Member of the Editorial Board of JIW.
