Mr. Rajiv Sharma
Rajiv Sharma, former Vice President, Indian Association of Research in Income and Wealth (IARNIW) holds M. Sc. (Math. Statistics), University of Delhi, M. Phil (Math. Statistics), University of Delhi, and M. B. A (University of Hull, UK). He expertise in National Accounts Statistics and Revenue Statistics. He is former Higher Administrative Grade (HAG) officer of Indian Statistical Service with a splendid track record of extensive experience in various fields of official statistics in Government for over 35 years. Towards the end of service, he was Regional Head of the Field Operations Division of National Sample Survey Office in the State of Gujarat for a period of two years, before superannuating as Additional Director General in the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, New Delhi.
Rajiv Sharma had been with Central Statistical Organisation, India, serving in different capacities. He specialized in National Accounts Statistics. He also held the position of National Accounts Expert for five years in the Economic Statistics and National Accounts Department, Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics [erstwhile Qatar Statistics Authority], State of Qatar, Doha.
In the first ten years of the service, he served in two key offices of Department of Revenue namely “Tax Research Unit” of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs and “Central Economic Intelligence Bureau” in the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, specializing in the field of Revenue Statistics. He also had a four-year term as Deputy Secretary, Administration in the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, where he successfully handled the cadre management of “Central Engineering Service of Highways Engineers” besides holding the responsibility of establishment & General Administration of the Ministry and the Regional Offices of the Ministry.
Rajiv has published over 30 research papers in various national and international journals/publications primarily in the field of National Accounts and seven publications on revenue statistics. He has participated and represented the country in various conferences/seminars/trainings held across the globe. He has Life Memberships of IARNIW. Association of British Scholars and Indian Statistical Service Officers Association.
