Mr R.P. Katyal is a senior officer from the first batch of Indian Statistical Service,1968. He joined the then Central Statistical Office in 1970 and was posted in National Accounts Division (NAD). He served the NAD for 21 long years in various capacities and retired as Head of the NAD in 1991.

He has been serving the International Organisations such as CFTC, ADB, World Bank, IMF, FAO and UNDP as Consultant/Advisor on National Accounts. He has also served the NIPFP and NCAER as Senior Consultant on National Accounts.

He has been a member of the Governing Council of NSSO and of the Advisory Committee on National Accounts till recently.

He has served the IARNIW in various capacities like Treasurer, Joint Secretary, Joint Editor, Journal of Income and Wealth (JIW), Vice President. Presently he is a Member of the Editorial Board of JIW.
