Mr. Naresh Kumar Sharma is a Higher Administrative Grade Indian Statistical Service (ISS) officer of 1985 batch. He has about 35 years of experience in the Government of India holding various positions, in the areas of official statistics.
He is currently working as the Additional Director General and heading the National Division, National Statistical Office, Ministry of Programme Implementation, Government of India. This Division is responsible for the preparation of national accounts, which includes Gross Domestic Product, Government and Private Final Consumption Expenditure, Fixed Capital Formation and other macro-economic aggregates. The Division brings out an annual publication, titled “National Accounts Statistics”, containing these statistics. Other important activities of the Division are: (i) preparation of quarterly estimates of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current and constant prices, (ii) estimation of Capital Stock and Consumption of Fixed Capital, (iii) estimation of State-wise Gross Value Added and Gross Fixed Capital Formation of supra-regional sectors of Railways, Communication, Banking & Insurance and Central Government Administration (iv) Input-Output Transaction Tables (IOTT) and (v) preparation of comparable estimates of State Domestic Product (SDP).
His previous postings in the Government of India included: the then Planning Commission of India; Office of Economic Advisor, Ministry of Industry;M/o Chemicals & Petrochemicals; theField Operations Division (FOD) andData Quality Assurance Division (DQAD) of National Sample Survey, NSO, MOSPI, New Delhi.
